How do I pay for a Bike Hub Pay deal?

Paying for items with Bike Hub Pay

When you pay

Once the seller accepts your offer, we'll notify you by email and on-site with a link to your deal page. Payment goes into a secure Bike Hub Pay account held with Nedbank.

You have 48 hours from the moment the seller accepts to complete payment. The acceptance email is your starting point, so check its timestamp if you're unsure how long is left.

Your money is held safely until you have the item

Your payment goes into a Bike Hub Pay account. It does not go to the seller, and the seller receives nothing at this stage.

Once your payment clears we notify the seller to ship or hand over the item. We only release the money to them after you've received it and confirmed you're happy. If the item never arrives, or it isn't what was described, the funds are still with us. See How does Bike Hub Pay protect me as a buyer and our refund policy.

How to pay

Two options are shown on your deal page:

  • Direct EFT. No extra fee. Pay from your banking app or online banking using the account details and reference shown on your deal page.

  • Credit/Debit Card. Clears instantly. A 2.9% processing fee applies. Card payments are not available on offers above R100,000, so plan for EFT on larger deals. See What does it cost to use Bike Hub Pay.

Paying by EFT

  1. Use the account details and reference number shown on your deal page. Always take them from the deal page itself, never from an email or a screenshot, and never from this article.

  2. Use the exact reference number. It's how we match your payment to your deal.

  3. Pay the full amount shown, including the Bike Hub Pay fee and any delivery fee.

  4. Come back to your deal page and click Mark payment as complete.

  5. We verify the payment once it clears and notify both you and the seller to proceed.

How long payments take to clear

Method

Clears in

Instant EFT or PayShap

Usually within minutes

Standard EFT

1 to 2 business days

Credit/Debit card

Immediately

Standard EFT sent on a Friday will usually only clear on the Monday or Tuesday.

I've paid but the deal hasn't updated

First check the clearing times above. A standard EFT genuinely takes 1 to 2 business days and there's nothing wrong. For a fuller breakdown of when to expect your payment to land, see When will my EFT payment reflect?

If you've paid, clicked Mark payment as complete, and the deal still hasn't moved after those times, start a chat from your deal page with your proof of payment. Please don't pay a second time. Nearly every delayed payment is either still clearing or was sent with the wrong reference, and both are quicker for us to trace than a duplicate payment is to refund.

What happens if I don't pay in time

If payment isn't received within 48 hours, the deal is cancelled automatically and the listing becomes available to other buyers. You're welcome to make a new offer if it's still listed. You may be sanctioned for not following through with the agreed deal.
