How do Search Alerts work?

Get notified the moment a new listing matches what you're looking for.

Written by Nick Webb

Search Alerts email you the moment a listing matches what you're looking for. Create one from any search, category or collection page, and manage them all from one place.

Creating an alert

You can start an alert from several places:

  • The Get alerts button above any search, category or collection listing page.

  • The Create an alert button on a zero-results page, when nothing currently matches your search.

  • The Alert me prompt shown on a listing that has sold or expired.

  • The Create an alert button on your Search Alerts page.

What you can set

Every alert needs a category - this is the one required field. From there you can narrow it down with:

  • Keywords - a brand or model, e.g. "Canyon Grail".

  • Price - a minimum, a maximum, or both.

  • More filters - province, condition (brand new or used), seller type (private or dealer), and Bike Hub Pay listings only.

Under How often, choose:

  • As it happens (the default) - an email as each match is listed.

  • Daily summary - one email a day, only when there's something new.

How you're notified

A match is delivered by email, as a notification in the bell menu, and as a push notification if you've enabled push - according to what you've allowed for Search Alerts under Notification Settings. A single match takes you straight to that listing; if several of your alerts match the same listing, or several listings match around the same time, you'll get one grouped email and one notification instead of several.

Managing your alerts

Open Search Alerts from the menu to see every alert you've created, with its category and keywords, and to switch its frequency between As it happens and Daily.

Use the menu on a card to Edit, Stop, or Delete it. Stopping keeps the alert - you can start it again any time from the Stopped section. Deleting removes it for good.

To turn off Search Alert emails, in-app notifications or push entirely, use the Search Alerts row under Notification Settings - this applies to every alert at once.
